The History of Texas Old Town

The idea for creating an enchanting event venue in the country was sparked by a trip to the Arizona desert, where founder Larry Kruzie and his wife enjoyed a memorable night with friends at a Western-themed restaurant. Larry was struck by the idea of a space where family and loved ones could gather for special events in a picturesque natural setting.

Larry’s dream came to life when he discovered a 300-acre ranch in Kyle, Texas on one of his many drives exploring the Texas hill country around Austin and San Antonio. The beautiful landscape would be the perfect backdrop for weddings and other special events. Landowners Bruce and Annetta Hughson, third generation owners of the Hughson Ranch where Texas Old Town sits today, agreed. Their grandfather had told them to do something special with the property and Texas Old Town was their opportunity to turn their beautiful land into an event destination where generations could share special events for years to come.

Texas Old Town opened in 2004 and by the following year, it had become the premier venue for Texas hill country weddings and other events. In response to increasing demand, Texas Old Town has expanded in the years since to include four unique event spaces.

The property has evolved from a dream to a stunning reality. Texas Old Town is a truly special destination for an unforgettable wedding, special event, or corporate event.
