Are you wondering what you can do to make sure you look your absolute best on your wedding day? Every bride wants to feel beautiful, but not all take the steps necessary to go into their wedding ceremony glowing, instead of stressed out or flustered. Fortunately, today we’re here to share a few of our best tips for taking care of yourself leading up to and on your big day, so that you can both feel and look your best when you walk down the aisle, and as you dance the night away!
Take Great Care of Yourself Leading Up to the Wedding
One of the best ways to care for yourself, leading up to the wedding, is to make time for rest and relaxation, and to stick to making these a priority, no matter how busy you get with wedding planning.
You don’t have to schedule expensive spa trips, either, if that’s not in the budget. You simply need to designate some time for relaxing, lest you get too caught up in attending to wedding details, and find yourself losing sleep – and getting seriously stressed out – leading up to the wedding.
What are some of the best ways to relax? This varies person-to-person, but many busy brides find the following helpful ways to de-stress.
- Make a hot cup of tea and settle in with a good book, the kind you’ll want to revisit night after night. You could also join a book club, so you’ll be held accountable to getting out of the house, and getting your mind off the wedding, at least once a week or a month.
- Schedule weekly date nights, and stick to them. Wedding planning should be put on the backburner, as you take time to talk about other important things, like your favorite team’s chance of winning the championship game, your sister’s new haircut, etc. Use these as chances to visit new restaurants around your town, or enjoy picnics at the park together (especially if you’re saving for the honeymoon). It doesn’t have to be fancy, to qualify as quality time.
- If spa trips aren’t possible, schedule regular girls’ nights, instead. Whether you go out for a few drinks, dinner and dessert, or stay in and watch all your favorite old movies, making your friendships a priority will help keep you grounded.
- Even exercise can be an important part of stress management, while also helping you feel stronger and more energized. If training for a marathon or hitting the gym isn’t your thing, look for other ways to work out, ones that you do love. You could enroll in a dance class, start taking evening walks with a friend or your puppy, or find a yoga class offered nearby.
Relax the Night Before
It’s especially important to spend the night before the wedding as relaxed as possible. This is why we often encourage brides to have a bachelorette party or even weekend, a few weeks before the wedding, so you and your girls have a chance to fully recover from the excitement, before you head down the aisle.
With this in mind, you also want to go easy on the alcohol the night before the wedding, as it can cause you to feel sluggish, bloated, and simply not your best. Instead, drink plenty of water the days leading up to the wedding, and avoid too much caffeine or alcohol, which tend to be enemies of great, glowing skin. And head to bed early, so you can get up bright-eyed and ready to be a beautiful bride!
