Yay! You’re Engaged! Now What? Part One

Engaged? What Now? Planning Tips from Your Wedding VenueValentine’s Day is just around the corner, and while that means chocolates and flowers for most, it could mean a surprise engagement for some! Holidays are wonderfully popular times for popping the question, perhaps because of the intrinsic romance of spending a special day together (but also because it makes it much easier for your guy to remember the date). If Cupid is kind enough to bring you a stunning ring over the holiday, here are some helpful tips for what to do next, after the shrieks of joy, calling your mom, and texting your bestie, of course!

So What Now?

You may have been dreaming about your wedding day since you were a little girl, but now that it is actually happening, are you unsure where to even start? After Instagramming your gorgeous ring, and making the engagement Facebook official, what’s a modern girl to do?

Many fiancés feel overwhelmed when they look at wedding planning timelines or checklists. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be a scary prospect. In fact, it can actually be quite fun if you know where to start!

Follow the Lead of Brides That Have Gone Before You

The vast majority of brides book their venue before settling on any other vendors. That’s because a venue is usually the biggest expense, but it also helps dictate so many of the other aspects. For instance, if you choose to have a spring ceremony at a rustic venue, like our beautiful Hill Country wedding venue outside of Austin, Texas, you probably don’t want to purchase a dress that would look better suited for a fancy ballroom. Likewise, if you are having a downtown wedding in winter, at night, you might not want to hire a natural light only photographer, since there won’t be much to work with.

If you’re not sure what kind of venue you want, or even where exactly you want to marry, consider using a wedding planning site like The Knot to help. Reading real brides’ reviews can be incredibly helpful in finding a venue, and other vendors, that suit your style and personality. Look for high rated vendors, but also ones that reflect your esthetics, as a couple, whether that means finding a fancy country club, or a rustic country setting that appeals to your small town roots.

Want to Tour Our Venue?

Don’t forget, this Sunday, January 31, 2016 will be our bi-annual Bridal Fair. The fair will run from 2 to 5 p.m., and it’s a great chance to tour each of our four lovely venue halls, as well as to connect with other Austin-area wedding vendors! So grab your best girl friends and come out and say “hi.” We’d love to meet you!
