Much like finding the man of your dreams, selecting your perfect wedding venue is truly a matter of individual taste. After all, there is no perfect person, only the perfect person for you. And in the case of wedding venues, you may find dozens of great options, all of which you like. Determining which is right for you is simply a matter of deciding which best suits your sense of style, your space requirements, your budget, location ideals, and of course your overall vision for your wedding day!
Location, Location, Location
One of the most important considerations, when trying to plan a wedding, is simply determining where you hope to wed. If you have always dreamed of planning a wedding in your hometown, for instance, you may want to choose a wedding reception venue that is near your parents’ home, your current residence, or even the church where you plan to wed.
If you fell in love with your fiancé while in college, you may choose, instead, to wed in the town where your romance started. In this case, you may want to choose a wedding venue (and other vendors) that have sentimental significance to you, such as marrying at the chapel of your shared alma mater, and holding the reception near where you had your first date.
In general, it is best to choose either one location for both your ceremony and reception, or to limit the driving distance between the two venues (church and reception hall, for instance) to 30 miles or less, lest your guests get too restless – or lost – on the way to your reception.
