Enjoy a Happy Holiday Season, While Looking Ahead

Christmas Wedding Planning IdeasDecember is nearing a close, now, and that means that 2017 will be here before you know it! Does the coming year serve special significance in your life, namely will you be getting married? If so, you may want to wait until after the holidays to really dive into your wedding planning. But, if you have some time to spare in the coming weeks, there are some steps you could take to start the wedding planning process on a smart note, and perhaps to even save a few bucks, too!

Start Planning By Securing Your Priority Vendors

Most wedding venues, photographers, and DJ’s tend to book months or even years in advance. So you don’t want to drag your feet when it comes to hiring key members of your very own wedding team.

Once you have prioritized your budget, make sure you start selecting key vendors as soon as possible. And keep in mind you won’t likely need to pay-in-full upfront. Many venues and other wedding professionals will reserve a date with just a deposit made. Just speak to each about their policies, and make sure you sign contracts as you begin booking vendors.

Take Advantage of Holiday Sales By Stocking Up on Wedding Essentials

And while you may feel like you need a nap, and vacation, after your holiday celebrations are over, if you can muster the strength, after-holiday sales are often great times to scout for great deals on wedding items. Sound crazy, unless you are planning a Christmas-themed wedding? Think again!

  • Many stores will have string lights, including fanciful globe lights, on sale after the holidays, which might be designed with Christmas trees in mind, but could easily be used to doll up a reception space or outdoor dance area. Strung together, they can even make really epic photo backdrops, or decorative elements behind a cake table!
  • Want to create gorgeous tablescapes without spending a fortune? Check your favorite home decor stores to see if metallic accessories are on sale after the holidays. Gold glittered chargers or tablecloths might seem holiday now, but they also look quite at home on wedding tables in any season. The same goes for geometric planters, stylish table runners, and plate chargers as well!
  • If you plan to wrap your wedding favors or gifts, you can even load up on after-holiday sales on wrapping staples (in non-holiday designs, of course).
  • Planning a rustic wedding? Why not grab some trees, wood slices or artificial greenery that might seem all Winter Wonderland now, but would just say “gorgeous” later, at your country wedding.
